What is the International Duo Symposium?
Three Reeds Duo is thrilled to host the 3rd International Duo Symposium at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Our ensemble’s mission is to perform and advance duo music for unique instrumental combinations like ours!
What is IDS? A gathering of Duo Music performers, composers and enthusiasts, meeting to promote the concept of “Portable Duo Chamber Music.”
What is “Portable Chamber Music?” - Small ensembles (Duos) that can be transported and performed almost anywhere.
Who can attend? Anyone!
Who can apply to perform? Any combination of two instruments/voice types (no piano or elaborate percussion or electronic setups). Performers must be able to provide their own equipment and set up for their performance in less than 5 minutes. Marimba can be provided.
What else will happen at IDS? There will be a Young Performer’s Competition, a Composition Competition, masterclasses, guest artist recitals, composer talks, vendors and more!
